Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar is a Brit-American sitar player and music artist. She was the youngest and first female to win the British House of Commons Shield she's received nine Grammy Awards nominations and was the first musician of Indian origin to perform live on stage and also act as a host at the award ceremony. Anoushka Shankar is one of India's rising stars in the sitar. She is the daughter and student of Ravi Shankar. She was born in London in 1982. During during her early years, she swam in London New Delhi. The first time she performed was on stage in New Delhi at the tender 13 years old. In the following years she moved to Encinitas CA she attended high school. She graduated with distinction in the year 1999. Anouskha, who is only 17 years old, has had a successful performing and recording career. Her father has accompanied her on numerous occasions for many years. She has released Anourag her first solo album in 1998. A year later, she dropped the Grammy nominated album Live on stage at Carnegie Hall. In addition to performing in all of the largest venues, she also has an extensive stage presence. Anoushka Shakar's work is not only limited to music. Bapi the Love of My Live, a biographical picture dedicating to her dad Ravi Shankar was published in 2002. In addition, she acted in a film in 2003. The role she played was that of as a Bharat natyam dancer in Dance Like a Man.
